A reminder if you are coming back through Bath Spa. The lift from Platform 2 is out of use until next month.

Tickets - Melksham to Severn Tunnel Junction then on to an Explore Wales 4 or 8, which wasn't easily found by the ticket clerk, and we nearly ended up with an Explore SOUTH Wales. Relatively expensive for what we are doing but it gives us the flexibility. "On the Buses" today.
Was this bought at Bath Spa? Did they issue the coupon with it, to record the days you travel?

Yes, and yes

A police dog took exception to me there and had a little bit of a go at me. Its handler was less than impressed and communicated this to the dog in surprisingly forthright terms. To be honest, I wouldn't like to repeat the experience either.

Ah, that's Newport. The police dog that was less than ok was on the footbridge at Waterloo, I'm sure all the police dogs in Wales are lovely. This from Dyfed police's web site.

Melksham (station) to collect the gent who's house sitting, Bus to Bath, train to Temple Meads, train to Newport, train to Chester. All on time. We made a connection that wasn't at Temple Meads - arrived at 15, left 6 minutes later from 3 and with a mobility aid that meant lifts not stairs too. Arrived at 1 into Newport (not common?) and headed up north from 3. Loved the 197 on what was classified as "Standard Plus".
Love the whole atmosphere / friendliness of public transport travel - both the Bath to Bristol local and and Marches line service too ... oh, and the bus. Bit of a randomness about that; personally helped by being a frequent traveller in our very local area and so knowing a lot of people.

Yep, they both are. There are only so many places we were at today!

1. has been guessed correctly as Chester
Ah yes, so it seems. It was still quite fresh in my memory despite the unfamiliar view from that hotel. I liked Chester and found a decent hotel by the canal near the town centre.

I'm thinking that 2 might be Newport.
Looking at this again, yes, I think so too.
I'm pretty sure that I know the first one

I'm pretty sure that I know the first one because I think that I was there a couple of months back but I shall hold fire as I've had a guess at No2 already.

1. Chester?
Yes, and no. 3 is Melksham. Nos. 2 and 4 are neither Cardiff nor Waterloo though.

4 Cardiff? It is one of the Class 153 units, 153572, converted as an Active Travel unit for the Heart of Wales Line. They are coupled to a ‘normal’ 153 unit and provide 10 bicycle spaces.

3. They haven't taken you far from home in that one: Melksham.

I have a theory that if I step out of a station and then post a "where am I" picture, it's a darned site harder for our members to identify. I suspect you'll prove me wrong
